Even though Nottingham Forest annouced the arrival of Tobias Figueiredo from Sporting on a six-month loan, it’s sounding like the defender will end up staying in England for longer than that.

When the transfer news emerged yesterday, we explained the three big Portuguese sports newspapers had different opinions on whether the buying option would be obligatory or not. One said yes, another said no, and the last didn’t take either side.

But the score is 2-1 now, because today, as they reportsTobias’ official announcement, both Record and O Jogo agree that Nottingham Forest will have to buy the player at the end of the season.

A Bola reports the clause, but doesn’t say if it’s obligatory, and still claims that Sporting will have the preference in case of a future sale.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly paid €200k for the loan deal, with the buying clause being €2.3m.

Although the Portuguese newspapers insist the Championship side will buy only 80% of the player, the fact the FA doesn’t allow it makes it sound more like Sporting will have 20% of a future sale instead.
