Gianluca Scamacca arrived at West Ham United from Sassuolo last summer and finished his debut season in the Premier League with three goals from 16 games and five more goals from nine games in other competitions.

The striker, who has been sidelined with an injury since March, is looking to leave West Ham in this window.

That’s according to Friday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, who state AS Roma have identified him as an option for next season.

After experiencing a difficult season with the Hammers, the 24-year-old has told his agent that he could relaunch his career elsewhere. He wants to decide his future together with the Europa Conference League winners.

With Roma keen to sign the Italy international, it’s claimed he ‘would gladly accept’ such a solution, even though the feeling is that ‘negotiation won’t be short’.

That’s because the report states West Ham, who invested €36m to secure his services a year ago, would prefer to cash in from his sale rather than negotiate a temporary deal.

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto intends to insist on West Ham, likely for a loan, because Scamacca’s characteristics pleases José Mourinho.

Now let’s wait and see.
