It seems Fulham are about to miss out in the race for Porto midfielder Matheus Uribe.

Despite recent stories saying the Whites would like to sign the 32-year-old, whose contract with the Dragons expires this summer, reports say he’s going somewhere else.

UOL writes that Qatari side Al-Sadd are ‘very close’ to landing Uribe. It’s said there are ‘advanced talks’ for him to join them.

The same story claims the midfielder has offers from Flamengo and Fulham ‘in hand’, but the player seems eager to turn down both of them.

According to UOL, Uribe gave ‘positive signs’ to Al-Sadd’s bid, which is for a yearly salary worth €3.5m, plus a signing bonus of €4m.

The story claims that the midfielder even opened talks for a renewal with Porto, but chose to take a new path.

It’s not made clear whether Fulham’s bid is not good enough. The chance to feature in the Premier League could certainly attract the player, but in case the Whites can’t officially compete with that salary offer, then it could be hard to convince him indeed.
