After failing to impress in his last two loan spells at Real Betis and Celtic, it was no surprise that Charly Musonda would not be at Chelsea this season.

The 21-year-old’s chances of making it into new manager Maurizio Sarri’s squad were crushed when the Italian sanctioned his loan move to Vitesse Arnhem, a move which is unlikely to help him get back into the Blues squad, even if he manages to impress during his time at the Dutch club.

He had a disappointing start to his time at Eredivisie outfit as the winger suffered an injury during the friendly fixture against Royal Antwerp. On September 13th, we covered a report from Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander, who claimed the player has suffered a “serious shin injury”.

Musonda returned to Chelsea and Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws also relay what was mentioned by De Gelderlander, suggesting it is a standard procedure for those players to return to the club, who have suffered potentially serious injuries.

It was claimed the attacker could be out for several months, but HLN says he will be sidelined only for four weeks, which will come as better news for Musonda, Chelsea and Vitesse as the latter still expect a lot from him.
