When David De Gea decided to leave Manchester United after the club made it clear he would be replaced by André Onana, the Spaniard probably thought he would find a club rather quickly.

However, that hasn’t been the case, and he is still a free agent on August 17th, despite receiving a number of approaches.

The high wages he was on at Manchester United have clearly put off a few clubs, but Bayern Munich were keen, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Germany journalist took to Twitter to reveal that despite an interest from the Bavarians, the Spain international will not be the one chosen to stand in for Manuel Neuer until his return.

Bayern ‘will not sign’ De Gea, and Thomas Tuchel was the one who ‘vetoed’ the signing, as the German goalkeeper’s return is ‘expected within a few weeks’.

It’s pointed out that talks with the former Manchester United shot stopper did take place and he was willing to join the German, but the deal is ‘off now’.

Therefore, De Gea has to find himself another landing spot, and might have to reduce his wage demands to find a club willing to accommodate him.
