Leeds United are pushing to sign Willy Gnonto from FC Zurich and the striker is ‘very close’ to moving to Elland Road.

That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say Leeds have submitted a €5m plus bonuses offer in an effort to convince the Swiss club.

Gnonto has been linked with a move to Leeds throughout this month, with Jesse Marsch determined to add to his forward options as Patrick Bamford continues to struggle with injuries.

The situation has been steadily picking up pace over this week and a report today stated Leeds has scheduled a conference call in an effort to push through the transfer.

Corriere back this up somewhat, stating that the player is ‘very close to Leeds’ after they submitted a €5m offer plus bonuses to try and convince Zurich.

Feyenoord had also been interested in the Italian talent, but it is Leeds who are ‘now in a hurry’ to close a deal and ‘define all the agreements’.

Whether Zurich will accept that bid isn’t made clear but the suggestion from Italy is that Leeds are pushing hard to get a deal over the line.
