On Monday, Chelsea’s Jorginho emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal in the winter market.

This was reported by Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg and he also stated the Gunners are close to signing the midfielder.

Arsenal received a helping hand in this deal from Conor Gallagher, who has refused to leave Chelsea for Everton. This has seen Graham Potter’s side look to sell another midfielder.

The Brazil-born Italy international has a deal expiring in June. Despite his agent insisting there is a renewal offer from the Blues, the two parties are unlikely to extend their relationship.

Plettenberg again took to Twitter to insist the 31-year-old’s move to Arsenal is ‘very, very hot’. That’s mainly because Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘pushing’ to sign the former Napoli star, while the west London club have decided to sell him.

The latest claim from Plettenberg indicates Jorginho’s transfer to Arsenal is set to be completed soon. It would also suggest the Gunners have ended their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moisés Caicedo.

Jorginho has three goals from 25 appearances in all competitions this season for Chelsea.
