On July 8th, we covered claims from Het Nieuwsblad, who explained Anderlecht are interested in signing Philippe Sandler from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal.
Another Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws now brings the latest update. They claim the 22-year-old was in Brussels on Monday to complete his loan move to Anderlecht.
The Premier League winners signed the Dutchman from PEC Zwolle last summer and a knee injury forced him to spend the first few months on the sidelines.
Since returning to action, he made only two appearances last term and both of them were in the cup competitions.
Despite limited playing time in his debut season in England, Pep Guardiola ‘recognises’ Sandler’s potential and sees a future for the player at City.
Therefore, Manchester City allowed him to join Anderlecht only on a loan deal and no purchase option has been included. Vincent Kompany can now polish him, and send him back more ready for the big time.
It’s not a bad plan really.
