Paul Pogba’s expected transfer to Manchester United has turned into one of the great sagas of transfer window history. He’s sidestepped Arturo Vidal to Manchester United, and whilst this doesn’t quite have the longevity of Wesley Sneijder or Nico Gaitan, it’s been even more annoying.
The almost polished way Mino Raiola and Pogba have milked the situation, aided happily by Manchester United and Juventus sponsor Adidas, is a new way of driving fans around the bend.
In Italy this week, the reporting has been that the transfer is done, and all the articles on the situation, and there haven’t been that many, have tended to be retrospective rather than making claims about a transfer set to happen.
Another twist came when an America based Italian football YouTube channel sent someone to ask Pogba if he’s staying at Juventus. Fans of the Turin club would love the player to stay, and not go to Manchester United, and he gave them the answer they wanted.
Are you going to stay? Yes.
But, even the guys who videoed the player suggest there’s every chance that’s not true, he could be going to Manchester United, and was lying simply to appease fans.
Stop the world.
