The Daily Jerry Mbakogu brings two different slants on Thursday.

Gazzetta di Modena are Carpi’s local newspaper and, via their connections at the Serie B club, have been providing updates nearly every day.

When it was claimed in Yorkshire that Leeds United had told Carpi they won’t be signing the striker, Gazzetta di Modena went straight to the Italian club and got a denial.

Since then everything has been stagnated.

Talks have been described as ‘ping-pong’, and today it’s claimed the player is on ‘stand-by’ for a move. Leeds United remain the only named potential destination, but it’s reported ‘other tracks’ are also being followed.

Gianluca Di Marzio sounds much more confident.

The Italian journalist reports on Thursday that Carpi could unblock Mbakogu to Leeds ‘this week’. A ‘goodbye’ from the striker could arrive in the comings days.

Di Marzio doesn’t mention anything about potential interest from elsewhere.

One day this rumour will be resolved! Let’s hope it’s soon.
