Norwich City’s efforts to sign Rostov’s Mathias Normann have reached a ‘dead end’, as per VG in Norway.
The Canaries are one of the English clubs to have shown ‘concrete interest’ in the midfielder, along with Watford and Newcastle United.
Watford ended up signing Ozan Tufan, while the Magpies haven’t submitted an offer so far for the 25-year-old.
Norwich, however, made an offer last week to take the Norway international initially on a loan deal.
It’s claimed Daniel Farke’s side offered €2.5m as a loan fee to the Russian club and were ready to include an obligation to make his stay permanent for €14m, provided they were avoid relegation and Normann plays at least 50 percent of their fixtures.
A few days after the Premier League side submitted the offer, Rostov responded, while disagreeing with Norwich on ‘one important detail’.
They wanted Norwich to make the player’s stay permanent, without any conditions attached to it. Rostov didn’t want to have the risk of ‘losing their income’ if the English club drop back to the Championship.
This solution didn’t satisfy Norwich or Normann, since the club don’t want to invest a lot, while the latter doesn’t fancy playing in the second division. Therefore, the negotiations are at a ‘standstill’ between the two clubs.
