Nottingham Forest showed keen interest in Galatasaray’s Barış Alper Yılmaz in the last window.

That’s according to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an update on the Reds’ failed pursuit.

He says Nottingham Forest made an approach to sign the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side ‘made an offer’ of €25m to Galatasaray, via Barış Alper Yılmaz’s agent, Tuncay Maldan. However, the Istanbul club rejected the proposal for the winger.

The Turkey international was a key part of Galatasaray’s title winning squad last season, managing seven goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

He also impressed for the national team at Euro 2024. His performances for club and country attracted interest from several clubs. As well as Nottingham Forest, Sabuncuoğlu claims the player received offers from clubs from Italy, Germany, England and France.

Their details aren’t mentioned, but he claims Galatasaray didn’t respond to these offers, nor did they set a price tag. That’s because the Turkish champions had no plans to part ways with Barış Alper Yılmaz.

The attacker has two goals from six games this season and his deal lasts until 2027.
