Hellas Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua has been one of the emerging stars in the Serie A this season and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed with him receiving praise everywhere.
Napoli’s interest in the Cameroonian came right after he was vital in Verona’s huge win over Antonio Conte’s side some weeks ago, but there is now a line of suitors lurking around for the 22-year-old.
Alfredo Pedulla has now reported about the situation of the wing-back, stating that Everton and Rennes ‘sounded out’ the player in recent weeks. Toffees interest was repeatedly reported towards the end of the window and it’s a shame they couldn’t secure a deal because the battle is looking more difficult now.
Talks didn’t advance and there is now competition from Juventus that Everton would have to deal with. Napoli were interested in the player some time back, but they have moved on to other targets.
The Bianconeri could go on to make an offer in January and it isn’t known if Everton would do the same, even if the asking price of €15m (that is likely to rise) might be more acceptable to the Toffees than Juve.
Verona are hoping that Tchatchoua keeps performing well, so that his valuation increases.
