Currently manager-less Nottingham Forest continue to be active in the Portuguese transfer market. Having agreed a deal with Benfica to take Joao Teixeira, who had been at Wolves for the first half of the season, until the end of the campaign, all eyes now turn to Pele.

The Portuguese media had reported Nottingham Forest’s interest in Pele last week, but this very much seems like Benfica trying to push another loan player the way of the Championship club.

Without a full time manager in place, and one who has the say over transfers, it’s easier Screen Shot 2017-01-30 at 10.15.35for Benfica to push what they want toward Nottingham Forest, and have the English club help solve the Portuguese club’s squad problems.

Pele, 25 years of age, broke his foot in the summer, and is still on the comeback trail, but Benfica have no space for him and would be keen for an exit.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola say Nottingham Forest are ‘insisting’ on the deal, but it’s likely to be the other way around.
