On April 3rd, Foot Mercato reported Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are in the picture to sign Lyon’s Luis Henrique in the summer window.
They also stated the Reds and Newcastle didn’t make progress while other suitors made approaches.
L’Equipe backs up Nottingham Forest and Newcastle interest in the winger and brings the latest.
Operating as a right wing-back and a left winger, he managed nine goals and eight assists from 31 games this season.
Henrique’s form has dipped this year as he has a goal and an assist in the league so far.
He played as a right wing-back in his side’s 3-0 defeat to Monaco and L’Equipe state his attitude when Lyon conceded the second goal left Roberto De Zerbi and his coaching staff unhappy.
The newspaper claims the 23-year-old trains well and works hard but lacks concentration at times. This impacts his performances on the pitch, both while attacking and defending.
Lyon’s officials have held talks with the Brazilian so that he can improve his performances. These discussions took place at a time when the club are actively looking to make one or more significant sales to balance their books.
Henrique’s qualities, age, physicality and versatility are among the factors that make him a ‘rare profile’, and Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are among his interested parties.
According to the report, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and Newcastle are ‘in talks’ with his entourage. He’s also wanted by Inter Milan and AC Milan and Lyon director Medhi Benatia is in talks with his Inter president Giuseppe Marotta.
Bayern are also credited with an interest, but the player is one of the names on their list.
It’s possible for Henrique’s agent to use Nottingham Forest and Newcastle to put pressure on Inter, who are keen on signing him.
