Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito president Isaac Alvarez has continued his pushback against claims youngster Oscar Zambrano will be joining Bournemouth.

Ole cover the president today after he spoke to ESPN Ecuador regarding the current situation at the club and potential transfers in and out.

Zambrano has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the best part of a year, with several sides all thought to be keeping track of his progress.

Bournemouth raced to the front of that queue earlier this month when it was claimed they were on the verge of signing him in a £5m deal.

There’s been a distinct pushback on those claims since they emerged, with the player’s agent insisting no such deal was in place or had even been offered.

Indeed, the whole affair has sparked something of a war of words between the various parties involved, with Bournemouth planted firmly in the middle of the matter.

Now it seems Alvarez wants to calm things down, insisting nothing is going on for now, although there is plenty of time for that to change.

“I am not in charge of Oscar Zambrano,” he said.

“A week ago, he had a conversation with Diego Castro. There is nothing formal or definitive. We have to wait…

“It will be the best for the player and for the institution. The transfers have not been closed; we will see what will happen in the coming days.”
