Foggia midfielder Antonio Junior Vacca is set to retire at the end of the season and take up a coaching role with Roberto de Zerbi at Brighton and Hove Albion.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport’s Puglia edition, relayed by La Goleada, who say the 33-year-old has already started his foray into coaching where he is, ahead of moving to Brighton.

The newspaper explains that while Foggia are currently managed by Massimiliano Olivieri, Vacca acts as his right-hand man, leading the team with a ‘decisive attitude’ and playing the role of locker room man with the squad.

He’s been doing this since his arrival last season and it’s working out well for all involved, particularly him as he looks to the next stage of his professional career.

He’s very much been a ‘successful apprentice’ and it is ‘no mystery’ that he is set to hang up his boots at the end of the season to move into coaching.

In fact, he has already secured his next role, as he’s set to link up with Roberto de Zerbi at Brighton and become part of his coaching staff.

What role he will play at Brighton isn’t mentioned but his experience at Foggia is serving as a ‘sort of anticipation’ for his planned move to England and a career evolution that has seemingly been already planned.
