Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United may have been handed their opportunity to sign rising Mexican talent Stéphano Carrillo, with his club open to a sale to Europe.
That’s according to journalist Dominil Schneider, who says talks are ‘in progress’ at Santos Laguna ahead of the striker turning 18 in March.
Back in November we covered a report that claimed Wolves and Newcastle had both already asked about Carrillo and his conditions, having watched him shining at the U17 World Cup and seemingly been left very impressed.
That had led to them making enquiries about him, although they were unable to do anything official until he turned 18.
That’s now set to happen in March and Schneider reports that talks about a transfer to Europe are now underway.
Club Santos have agreed to let the striker move to Europe should he wish and there are numerous interested clubs in the ‘top leagues’ although the Mexican side are demanding €7m plus a percentage of his next sale to sanction a deal.
€7m plus add-ons is no major difficulty for either club, even with PSR rules hampering everyone, and even that figure may not be correct as Mexican commentator Félix Ríos has assured that although Santos Laguna value the youngster highly, the figure is not close to €7m.
