According to reports in the Turkish media, Borussia Dortmund have joined the race to sign Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.
The Turkey international has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United following claims the Premier League side have held talks to sign the player.
Fotomac have today reported claims from Germany that Borussia Dortmund are lining up an offer for Ozyakup despite the possibility the midfielder will extend his contract with Besiktas.
The 25 year old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and there are claims he could sign a new deal, but with a €12m buyout clause. Fotomac say Borussia Dortmund would be prepared to meet his new termination fee in the summer after watching the player over a period of time.
Earlier this month we covered reports from the Turkish media that Newcastle United are strongly interested in Ozyakup and were in discussions with the player’s agent.
Newcastle United are prepared to meet his demands of €2.5m a season, but it seems they will no longer be able to land him on a free transfer.
However, €12m isn’t such a big fee for a player like Ozyakup and there’s still a possibility Newcastle United can land him in the next window.
