Fanatik report English clubs are almost at ‘war’ to sign Besiktas captain Oguzhan Ozyakup, and that Newcastle United have made a move for the Turkey international.

Earlier this week we covered reports from the Turkish press that the Besiktas midfielder wants to continue his career in the Premier League as he wants to follow in the footsteps of his friend Cenk Tosun, who joined Everton in January.

Recent reports in the Turkish press suggested the midfielder is keen on an Everton move, but Newcastle United and Arsenal, alongside West Ham, are also mentioned as potential destinations for Ozyakup.

According to Fanatik, Newcastle United are strongly interested in Ozyakup and the Turkish newspaper claims the Premier League side have met with the player’s agent.

Newcastle United have reportedly told Ozyakup’s agent they will meet his wage demands, which would be around €2.5m a season.

The Magpies will have the opportunity to land him on a free transfer in the summer when his contract with Besiktas expires.
