As Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola shares today on his Youtube channel some transfer news ahead of the summer market, there are some updates on the situation of Lyon midfielder Lucas Paquetá.

The report points out that the 24-year-old has been drawing the attention of a few European sides, and Newcastle United are one of the clubs in the race.

Nicola points out that the Magpies are looking to rebuild the midfield partnership that Paquetá had alongside Bruno Guimarães at the French club.

Newcastle, however, aren’t alone in the race, as the likes of Paris Saint Germain have been showing the interest as well, and the journalist takes claims from the French media to say that despite expecting bids of €70m, Lyon’s demand is of €80m.

It’s probably fair to say that following Bruno Guimarães’ €42m move to Newcastle in January, he was able to have a quick adaptation to the club and the Premier League.

Speaking to the Brazilian media this week, he talked about how good things have been going for him and the affection he’s been receiving from the fans.

That could also encourage Newcastle to work hard to bring his friend and former midfield partner to his side on the pitch for next season.
