On July 6th, Ekstra Bladet reported Eintracht Frankfurt star Jesper Lindstrøm is high on Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe’s target list.

Later that month, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Juventus are interested in the 23-year-old but the Magpies are ahead of them.

Fast forward to August and today’s Ekstra Bladet explains Newcastle and the Serie A side remain keen on the attacking midfielder.

It’s claimed Eintracht Frankfurt are ‘ready to sell’ the Denmark international for €34-35m but will not wait until the end of the window.

RB Leipzig have already seen their bid of DKK 186m [€25m] rejected and haven’t had contact with their Bundesliga counterpart since then.

The report adds Newcastle and Juve are the two clubs to have now positioned themselves and have shown ‘strong interest’ in the player. He’s a priority target for the Old Lady but they must first sell before making an approach for him.

Ekstra Bladet have warned both Howe’s side and the Turin club that Lindstrøm’s price will skyrocket towards the end of the window.

That’s because Eintracht Frankfurt will have to find a replacement for the Dane [if he were to be sold] and wouldn’t have much time left to do it.

For now, Newcastle have shown ‘strong interest’ in the player but haven’t converted that into an offer to sign him so far.
