There’s good and bad news coming from Portugal regarding Arsenal’s chase for Sporting right-back Cristiano Piccini today.
Let’s start with the positive updates, which are about the player’s price. As newspaper Record has a story about his possible exit in the summer, they claim that the Lions could be selling the 25-year-old for between €15m and €20m.
This is the second source claiming that Piccini could be available for €20m, the amount Arsenal are said to be preparing, against one that didn’t believe so. So for now, we can consider that the strongest information leaking is that the player can be quite cheap.
But something we should consider now is: are Arsenal really interested in the player? Because from three articles we’re covering in the past few days, only one gave the Gunners a mention, and it’s not even a sports newspaper who did it.
Jornal de Notícias was the one breaking the news, saying Arsenal were preparing an offer for the player. Then A Bola covered it without backing up any information, and today, Record doesn’t show any knowledge about the interest as well.
Record actually says that Napoli are very keen, but that’s all they know for now.
So let’s wait for a new source to confirm Arsenal’s chase before taking the Gunners’ chase for a fact. Because for now, it’s looking like just another Portuguese rumour.
