Currently enjoying his vacations in his home town of Tenerife, Chelsea forward Pedro isn’t very happy about the last season at the Stamford Bridge.
The 30-year-old has spoken to the local media during a visit to his own foundation this week, and openly talked about the bad season the Blues just had in the Premier League.
“We went out of the Champions League, which for us is a great inconvenience, although we could then win the FA Cup. We came from being league champions and expectations were high,” Pedro told local outlet El Dia.
Regarding leaving Chelsea in the summer, the player didn’t really want to tease with a transfer out of the club, but still used the good old ‘you never know’ not to rule out the possibility.
“When you have less prominence, you always consider moving, or maybe not, they welcomed me very well at Chelsea and I really like the maximum respect that the players have with the fans, and I am also very comfortable with my teammates.
“In this sense, I’m calm, I have a contract and right now I do not think about a way out, but you never know.”
Signed from Barcelona on a €27m deal in 2015, Pedro only has one more year of contract left at Chelsea, with an option to extend it for a further one.
The winger finished the 2017/18 season with seven goals and five assists in 48 games. That wasn’t enough for him to be called up for Spain’s World Cup squad, but it still didn’t take out his hope to represent the country again in the future.
“With age and the passage of time, you see it increasingly difficult, but returning to the national team is something that is there.”
