Since it was reported that Atlético Mineiro and Nottingham Forest reached an agreement for the transfer of Gustavo Scarpa, fans of the Brazilian side have been waiting for the official announcement.

There’s no big hurry, since the South American pre-season only starts in January. Still, some supporters wonder why it’s taking so long for the transfer to be confirmed.

As journalist Jorge Nicola now shares a video on the situation, he claims there’s still an issue between Scarpa and Nottingham Forest being sorted out.

The reporter starts by claiming that everything is agreed between the two clubs and the player, and Atlético’s intention was to announce the signing over Christmas.

The problem is that Scarpa is still due money from Nottingham Forest. Those remaining payments are related to signing bonuses and salary.

Once that’s sorted, Atletico will be ready to announce him. They’re reportedly paying €5m for the transfer, with the midfielder signing a four-year contract with them. That’s a big investment for a Brazilian club, and they’ll certainly hope he does better than he did in Europe.
