Even though it seemed at one point that Middlesbrough had the signing of Andraz Sporar done, we now get to deadline day with things still a little far from happening.
Newspaper O Jogo today features a short piece saying the striker is currently with the Slovenian national team as he waits for his situation to have a solution.
They say the move to Middlesbrough ‘hasn’t seen white smoke yet’ and Sporar waits for the confirmation of a loan deal to the Championship side.
O Jogo points out that the transfer has been agreed and the player even had his medical. However, his ‘tax residence’ delayed the process.
Sporar is supposed to join Middlesbrough on a one-year loan spell. Then if Boro are promoted to the Premier League and he scores 15 goals in their campaign, the club will pay Sporting €8.5m for the permanent move.
With that tax issue delaying the transfer for over a week, we now wonder if the clubs and player will be able to sort that in the final hours of the transfer window.
