Leaving England altogether to try and get away from everything, Saido Berahino has kept himself to himself in Belgium over the past two seasons.

Arriving at Zulte Waregem on a free from Stoke City back in 2019, the striker spent last season on loan at Charleroi, where he scored two goals in 17 games, and has featured four times off the bench for Zulte this season.

However, the two parties could end up separating before the end of the transfer window, as Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri explains a move to Sheffield Wednesday could be on the cards.

Darren Moore’s side could welcome the 28-year-old on Tuesday, as Tavolieri took to Twitter to explain the player ‘should leave’ Zulte today to ‘find England once again to join League One and the English club of Sheffield Wednesday’.

It’s not made clear whether this would be a loan or a transfer, but considering The Owls have yet to spend a penny on the transfer market, it’s likely to be a cost-free operation.

Darren Moore has guided his squad to a strong start in their League One campaign, picking up 10 points from a possible 15 in the first five games, currently sitting in second in the table, two points behind Sudnerland.
