On Tuesday night Middlesbrough sent an official to the match between Benfica and Dinamo Kiev, report A Bola. The Portuguese side won the Champions League tie 1-0, thanks to a goal from Eduardo Salvio.

Middlesbrough have previously been linked with Benfica’s Victor Lindelof but, as we explained yesterday, the defender has since progressed and his club would be looking for €30m, with the Swedish international also having his sights set higher.

That obviously wasn’t enough Portuguese Champions League action for the Middlesbrough scout, with an official, we assume the same one, also attending Porto versus Club Brugge. Porto won the match 1-0 thanks to a goal from the latest young sensation Andre Silva.

On the Club Brugge side, Middlesbrough were repeatedly linked with striker Laurent Depoitre last season. However, he instead decided to move to Porto, rounding off a circle here, but was an unused substitute on Wednesday night.
