Marca is the major sport newspaper in Spain, so it’s worth listening to what they have to say on the Maxi Gomez situation.

That said, they may not be as well informed as the local Valencia and Vigo media.

Anyway, in their Saturday edition, Marca explain the late West Ham offer which arrived for the striker on Friday.

They put that at €40m, and state that just like the offer from Valencia, Celta are pleased with it.

This is a completely different slant to the Vigo media, who insist Celta don’t even want to listen to the Hammers, and are quite happy with the deal they already agreed with Valencia.

Marca explain that now it’s very much down to the decision of the player. He either sticks to what he’s wanted to do and remains in Spain, or he chases the money of the Premier League.

The Spanish newspaper believe that, currently, it’s likelier he moves to England.

Again, it’s worth noting this is against what the Vigo and Valencia media are reporting.
