Manchester United’s approach for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic Savic has been labelled as ‘feeble’, with the Italian side uninterested in a sale.

That’s according to Il Messaggero, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, who say there have not been any concrete offers for the Serbian.

Milinkovic-Savic has long been named as a target for Manchester United, who are linked with a move almost every summer.

There have been rumours about a potential switch again this year as Erik ten Hag reportedly looks at alternatives to Frenkie de Jong, who has proven difficult to get out of Barcelona.

It seems they have not made a serious bid to sign the midfielder, though, with Il Messaggero reporting that they only made a ‘feeble initial attempt’ to open negotiations.

That was seemingly dismissed out of hand, and they have not returned since, with no ‘concrete offers’ on the table for the player.

That’s led Lazio to try and push to sign Milinkovic-Savic to a new deal and they have gone back to the drawing board to draw up a proposal.

The suggestion is that they feel Manchester United won’t be returning with a serious bid, especially after the signing of Casemiro.
