Manchester United are still interested in signing Gabriel Jesus, according to reports from Spain on Friday.
Mundo Deportivo says the Catalan club have no intention of making a move now, as Gabriel Jesus still wouldn’t be part of their first team. So they’ve been only scouting the 19-year-old to gather information and try to sign him in the future.
A meeting between the player’s club Palmeiras and Barcelona was recently reported in Brazil, but denied denied to the local media by one of Barça officials.
As Palmeiras want to keep Jesus at least until the end of the year, that could end up favouring a deal with Barça, since a buying option in the future is all that the European side would like for now.
The 19-year-old has a €30m (£23.5m) release clause, but five clubs could get a discount: Manchester United, Bayern Munich, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid could all take him for €24m (£18.8m) due to another clause in his contract.
Gabriel’s economic rights are divided between Palmeiras (30%), Cristiano Simões (32.5%), Fabio Caran (22.5%) and himself (15%).
Manchester United links have been around for a while, and in April we covered claims from Brazil that an offer had been made.
