Manchester United could consider signing Barcelona star Ronald Araújo in the summer window, according to Mundo Deportivo and Sport.
The centre-back’s deal lasts until 2026 and the La Liga side are keen on extending it.
That hasn’t happened yet, and Mundo state Bayern Munich are keen on signing him, while Manchester United are also thinking about the 25-year-old.
Bayern and United interest is echoed by Sport, who provide more on this and the La Liga side’s threshold to renew his contract.
Barcelona’s intention is to renew the contract and they have already made an offer of a deal until 2028, with a salary increase. The improved contract doesn’t make the defender one of the top earners at the Camp Nou.
The Uruguay international is handling very important offers and his exit could help Barca to carry out signings in the next window.
At the same time, Araújo wants to continue, but his entourage is seriously considering a transfer since other clubs are offering double what Barca have proposed.
He didn’t listen to Manchester United or Chelsea offers when signing the last renewal and the Spanish club are waiting for that to repeat this time.
Sport add Manchester United are still in the picture and have already informed Araújo’s entourage that they will ‘present a formal offer’, if he decides to leave.
Barca are keen on Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich and the Bavarian club could use him as part of the deal for Araújo.
This may give the Bundesliga side an edge over Manchester United, if there were to be a transfer.
