On Tuesday, W Deportes stated Manchester United are the team that are most interested in signing Feyenoord star Santiago Giménez in a bargain deal for around €20m.

It was also stated the Red Devils, who have sent scouts to watch the striker in action for the Dutch club in recent times, have made the first contact with his environment to know the conditions to sign him in the summer.

AS in Mexico have dismissed this claim and add the 21-year-old’s camp have ‘denied contacts’ with Manchester United for his transfer.

‘Sources close to the footballer’ have informed AS that ‘no contact was made’ with Erik ten Hag’s side. They also add the player hasn’t received ‘any formal proposal’ from the Premier League club over the possibility of acquiring his services in the summer.

Giménez has starred for the Eredivisie side this season, scoring 18 goals and registering four assists from 37 matches. The frontman’s explosion in his debut season in Europe has seen several clubs send scouts to closely monitor him.

Amid claims of contact from Manchester United and interest from other clubs, AS state that so far, no negotiations have been finalised for his transfer to another club.
