Manchester United may have just seen Rasmus Hojlund score his first Premier League goal, but that doesn’t stop them from being linked to a new centre-forward.

In the past few weeks, we’ve seen the Portuguese media claiming that Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeress is drawing big interest from the Premier League, given his impressive start at the Lisbon side.

As newspaper Correio da Manhã today writes about his future, they point out that Manchester United are one of the clubs who could come for his signing in the January transfer window.

It’s said that the Red Devils are one of the clubs who could arrive with €100m to trigger his release clause.

Sporting are doing their best to keep the player for, at least, the entire season. Now they’re set to try to convince him that they’ll keep fighting for the title, and will work on the team’s improvement to show their commitment.

It’s worth recalling that earlier this week, Gyokeres himself promised the fans that he’s staying until the summer, so Manchester United would need very good arguments to take him out of Portugal in January.

Sporting only spent €20m to sign the striker from Coventry City last summer. Since his arrival, he has 17 goals and eight assists in 20 appearances.

This feels unlikely, also for FFP reasons, but ahead of next summer the hype will build.
