Manchester City youngster Julian Alvarez had admitted he ‘struggled a bit’ in the early days at the club but eventually ‘got the hang’ of things at the Etihad.

The striker joined Manchester City from River Plate in the summer, having initially joined in a €17m deal in January.

He returned to River on loan until the end of the season before joining City permanently to be a part of their squad this season.

He has quickly impressed, bagging four goals in 12 games and just 464 minutes so far as he plays a backup role to Erling Haaland.

The 22-year-old is being slowly introduced to the team by Pep Guardiola, who has been cautious with the youngster knowing the difference between River Plate and Manchester City is a huge one.

That’s something the player himself is willing to admit, telling ESPN that he did initially struggle after arriving in Manchester.

“There are a lot of transitions, very fast players. The first few days I struggled a bit, but I got the hang of it. It wasn’t easy but I was willing to learn,” he told them in a conversation ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

“They always tell me that they remember the Argentinians who were here very well. They told me that Otamendi used to play cumbia in the dressing room.

“There are a lot of people who work at the club, to be in all the details. Guardiola is in every detail, he gives you a lot of material, a lot of indications. I haven’t had many coaches to compare, I’ve learned a lot of things from everyone.

“I’m studying English, I’m gradually loosening up to speak.”
