Manchester City haven’t been the Premier League club most linked with Dusan Vlahovic in recent weeks, but perhaps they should be.

Arsenal claims have been around for a while, with reports of an agreement worth €80m with Fiorentina. However, the player doesn’t want to sign for the Gunners, and his agents are said to be ignoring Mikel Arteta’s side.

The whole Arsenal story feels like it could be being pushed by La Viola to drag the player’s perceived value higher and try and set €80m as a starting point for clubs to negotiate down from. Tottenham have also been linked, although that may be very much dependent on Harry Kane’s future.

Meanwhile, Manchester City need a striker, and Vlahovic is certainly showing he’s a capable one.

At 21-years-of-age he could still be moulded, and his 14 goals in 16 matches this season is seriously impressive. There’s not a lot of strikers in that kind of form who are on the market.

Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport has some interesting claims for Manchester City.

It’s stated Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘ready to launch the attack’, and: ‘The figures are being prepared, aware that in order for Fiorentina to sit at the negotiating table, a definitely important proposal is needed.’

The Italian media have long said Vlahovic’s agents prefer a move to Juventus. Fiorentina don’t want that, and would therefore welcome City coming to the table.

Obviously a more attractive proposition than Arsenal, there’s a good chance the Premier League champions would be a tempting prospect.

Meanwhile, over in Portugal, Sunday’s edition of Record says Manchester City are still in the picture for Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, although there doesn’t seem a great deal of detail behind the story.

Multiple scouts from Premier League clubs were at the Lisbon derby on Friday, and Manchester City weren’t among them. Interestingly, Juventus were… which may suggest they’re looking at Nunez as a Vlahovic alternative.
