Claudio Bravo decided to do three things this international break: refuse to play for Chile, avoid talking to journalists and spend some time in his home country after getting some days off from Manchester City.
That may sound like his confinement would help him to stay out of the news, but what happens is exactly the opposite.
Speculation about his future are a subject on a daily basis, and this week, journalist Pedro Carcuro claimed that according to people close to the goalkeeper, he may not return to the national team.
But Bravo made sure to dismiss the news. When returning to England on Tuesday, he’s spoken to local journalists at the airport, and made it clear that he’s not retiring from international football.
“But I’ve never said I’m not going to the national team anymore, that’s clear. I’ve just answered it,” he said (via Publimetro).
Something else interesting is that despite escaping from journalists, Bravo invited a few of them to his house. The story was told by Felipe Espina, from Canal 13, to Las Ultimas Noticias.
“We spent several days on Claudio’s trail without being lucky. Until last Wednesday, after insisting on countless occasions, he left and made us enter his house along with Verónica Bianchi and Mané Frezza.”
“He made us enter without cameras. He told us he could not wait outside. There we talked and even reaffirmed that he had talked to Rueda not to go to the national team and that he never resigned from La Roja.”
So it seems that the Man City player is just taking some time and planning a glorious comeback. Or maybe he’s just not keen on playing worthless fiendlies.
