This is it. It’s done. Gareth Bale is joining Manchester United next summer, after the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has closed the sale.

That’s what Don Balon are saying today, or at least their headline is.

But what they have to tell in their story has nothing to do with a done deal, and actually doesn’t even put Manchester United in front of the race for the Welsh star.

Taking claims from journalist Eduardo Inda, Don Balon writes that Bale has offers from PSG and Chelsea. But what he really wants is to join Manchester United. He’s spoken to José Mourinho, who wants to make him the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’, and now believes that Old Trafford should be his next desination.

Regarding the negotiations with Real Madrid, United would be well positioned. The club would be offering €80m, and are getting close to the €100m demanded by the Spanish side. The only club who are available to pay that price are said to be PSG.

That’s a good story, but completely different from what the same website published a couple of weeks ago.

They had claimed that José Mourinho’s football had given Bale the wish not to join Manchester United, so it’s quite interesting to see their mind changing. The previous report also claimed that Real Madrid were demanding around €130m for the transfer.

But in football, or in Don Balon, things change quite fast.
