The Brazilian media this week shares some news on the future of Manchester City fullback Yan Couto.

It all starts with Flamengo’s interest in the player, as reported by Radio Itatiaia, because the club are monitoring his situation as he’s currently loaned by Girona.

The problem right now is that the City Group have another club in Brazil, which are Bahia, who are actually watching Couto’s spell in Spain as well.

So Flamengo can’t actually move for the fullback’s signing until they have a green light from Bahia, who’d have the priority to bring the Manchester City player to his home country.

Now what’s really interesting in this story is an update from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola.

Following the recent rumours about Flamengo and Bahia, he claims that following a recent attempt from the latter, they got a negative response.

Manchester City reportedly told them they’d like to keep Couto in Europe, since they have the impression he can become of the main players in the right-back position, and could even be used by the Premier League side in a not so distant future.

The fullback has 18 appearances for Girona this season, and is back from his spell this summer, which will be a new chance for Pep Guardiola to have a closer look at him.
