Having failed to sign Harry Kane in the summer, it appears Pep Guardiola has decided to change targets the it comes to buying a new striker: Dušan Vlahović.

It seemed to already be the case towards the back end of the last transfer window, as there were reports that Manchester City had made some sort of move for the Serbian striker, to no avail.

Vlahović stayed at Fiorentina for the current season, where he is once again excelling, scoring 18 goals and picking up two assists in 20 games, but he won’t be renewing his contract there.

Expiring in 2023, his deal will only have one year to run on it come the summer, and there has been a feeling the Serie A side could sell in January if the right offer came along, although all will depend on the player.

The suggestion is that he wants to stay put until the end of the campaign for continuity reasons, at which point he will jump ship and move to a better side.

La Repubblica, relayed by TuttoJuve, explain that, ‘right now, Manchester City would have the best chances of acquiring the transfer of Vlahović’.

Therefore, Juventus ‘aren’t in the front row’ for the player, making Pep Guardiola’s side the current favourites.
