José Mourinho was expecting a call from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, according to Friday claims.
The Brazilian version of Goal brings a story today about the plans of the Portuguese manager, who’s been unemployed since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018.
It’s claimed that Mourinho is currently waiting for the departure of Zinedine Zidane so he can take charge of Real Madrid soon. This is said to be his first option.
Goal claims that in the past few months, the manager has rejected approaches from Monaco, Lille, Wolfsburg, Schalke 04, Roma, Milan and Sporting.
But the idea of taking charge of Real Madrid is more recent, Goal says. It’s claimed that back in March, when Santiago Solari was sacked, Mourinho was ‘almost exclusively’ focused on Tottenham Hotspur, since he believed Mauricio Pochettino could be heading to the Santiago Bernabeu.
At that time, Mourinho had no hurry to find a job and decided to accept invitations from only three clubs: Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain or Juventus.
But he wasn’t contacted by any of them.
