Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are in the picture to sign AS Saint-Étienne’s Lucas Stassin in the summer window.
That’s according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, and he states Brighton and Brentford are lining up for the striker.
The 20-year-old left KVC Westerlo for the Ligue 1 club last summer and impressed in his debut season.
Stassin scored 12 goals and registered eight assists from 32 games for Saint-Étienne and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
Tavolieri says the Seagulls and Thomas Frank’s side would like to bring him to the Premier League. In addition to these two clubs, VfB Stuttgart are also interested in the Belgium U21 international.
According to the journalist, these three clubs are ‘ready to sign’ the player in the next window.
Brighton, Brentford and Stuttgart all provide youngster regular opportunities in their first team and Stassin could feature regularly if he were to sign for one of them.
The frontman’s immediate focus is to help Saint-Étienne avoid relegation. They are in the 17th spot [18 teams in Ligue 1] and trail 16th placed Le Have by three points.
Stassin’s contract is until 2028, with an option for another year, and Transfermarkt value him at €7m.
Saint-Étienne may not be able to demand a lot especially if they were to drop to Ligue 2, meaning Stassin could be affordable for both Brighton and Brentford.
