Following their loss to Celtic at the weekend, Rangers have suspended duo Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace.
Involved in a dressing room situation with Graeme Murty after the match, the pair are felt to have overstepped a line and the Ibrox disciplinary machine has set itself in motion.
Murty’s own future at Rangers has been called into question also, with British bookmakers pushing odds for a replacement.
That’s found its way to the Netherlands where SoccerNews.nl have picked up claims Frank de Boer is the bookies’ favourite for the Rangers job.
As well as De Boer being Dutch, it’s also of interest to them because SC Heerenveen have had De Boer ‘high on the wish-list’ to be their next manager, and Rangers would be very tough competition.
Indeed, De Boer would jump at the chance to manage Rangers, saying last month “It’s clear” he’d be up for it.
A week ago, De Boer was quoted by LC answering a question about whether he sees his future in the Netherlands: “Well, I do not think so.”
Heerenveen’s chances sound very slim, and even slimmer if Rangers come calling.
