Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is planning on bringing Dani Ceballos back from his loan spell at Arsenal before deciding his future in pre-season.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who say the midfielder will be given his chance to prove himself at the Bernabeu.
Ceballos has spent the last two seasons on loan at Arsenal, having joined the club after growing frustrated at the lack of opportunities in the Spanish capital.
He is set to return to Madrid this summer, but his future remains in the air, with him, and the other players the club have loaned out over the last year, very much out of favour under Zidane.
Defensa Central now report that the French manager ‘wants to test’ Ceballos in pre-season before deciding if he will be a part of his squad next season.
The plan is to bring Ceballos back into the fold after his loan spell with Arsenal comes to an end, and if his performances are convincing enough, Zidane will leave him in the Real Madrid first-team.
It’s explained that Zidane is ‘very aware’ of how Ceballos is performing at Arsenal, where has been ‘performing at a good level’, particularly under Mikel Arteta.
Thus, he plans to give the Spaniard a ‘new opportunity’ to impress him and demonstrate that he deserves to be a part of the squad at Real Madrid.
That means any lingering hopes Arsenal had of a permanent deal for Ceballos are seemingly dead at this point, although perhaps if he fails to impress, that opportunity will present itself again later in the summer.
