Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, but talks over a transfer have not reached an advanced stage, a source has strongly told Sport Witness.
Reports in England reiterated Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Wales international, something he’s made clear himself. The former Chelsea boss and United’s executive vice chairman Ed Woodward are said to have prioritised a move for the 28-year-old ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese international has decided to leave the Champions League winners for Juventus this summer. Bale came on as a second half substitute and scored a brace to help Real Madrid beat Liverpool in the Champions League final.
Just minutes after the final whistle, the former Tottenham Hotspur star man said that he’ll sit down with his agent to decide his future. He expressed his frustration over limited playing time under Zinedine Zidane last season.
Sport Witness understands no decision has been taken yet on Bale’s future yet.
The forward is yet to have talks with new Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui and he will have the opportunity to do so when the players return for the pre-season training on July 16th. The same information has also been relayed by ESPN FC on Wednesday.
