As Manchester United fans, we doubt you’d take all that much interest in the potential signings Leeds might make, but one player they have been linked with a bit of late is Kouadio Konè.
The name might not mean much, but it’s one growing in reputation on the other side of the Channel, as the 19-year-old continues to be a regular starter for Toulouse in Ligue 2.
Starting in September, the interest from both Milan and Leeds has been circulating, spilling over into the January transfer window thanks to the Italian media.
Calciomercato have been explaining for the past week that the Serie A side have been preparing a move, but the Elland Road interest has only helped increase the youngster’s price to around €15m.
Completely ignoring Leeds, they state Manchester United and Borussia Mönchengladbach are also ‘very interested’ in the player’s profile.
It doesn’t seem like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have gone as far as Milan just yet, but it’s also not entirely surprising to see them fall for a young player with a lot of promise, since that’s been their transfer direction of late following the summer acquisitions of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo Traoré.
Either way, one to keep an eye on, because this is the first we’ve seen of Manchester United interest in Konè, and you can rest assured that when this reaches Italy, you’re going to hear a whole lot more about it.
