Manchester City are signing Sporting youngster Diogo Pinto, according to reports from the Portuguese media today.

Record, a Portuguese newspaper, is pretty sure the goalkeeper is signing for the Premier League side once he turns 16 years of age. That will happen on the 18th of June.

It’s claimed Manchester City watched the goalkeeper ‘several times’ before deciding to sign him. Record says the youngster ‘impresses’ those who watch him because of his physique. The teenager is 6ft 3ins at the age of 15.

Since Diogo Pinto’s academy contract with Sporting will run out once he turns 16, the Lions won’t get a penny for the transfer, except for the obligatory training compensation.

Pinto started his career at Felgueiras, having moved to Paços Ferreira in 2016 and joining Sporting’s academy in 2017. He’s currently part of their U17 team.

The goalkeeper also has appearances for Portugal’s U15 and U16 squads, and that’s more likely to be what attracted the interest from Manchester City.
