Still in need of a centre-back amid the speculation that Nicolas Otamendi is on the exit path at the Etihad, a new name has popped up.
According to Le10 Sport, Manchester City have ‘ticked the name’ of Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti to bolster their defence this summer.
The Catalan side are reportedly ready to listen to offers for the France international, and have set a price at around €60m in hope of getting an offer of somewhere in between €50-60m for him.
Manchester City are said to have ‘gathered a bit of information’ on the conditions needed for a deal, without going any further for the time being.
As things stand, that’s it, and since the Premier League champions aren’t looking for a definitive starter, since they already have Aymeric Laporte and John Stones for that.
That, in itself, could be an issue since there’s no guarantee Umtiti would agree to such a role, as we all know he will want first-team football to ensure he continues to be in Didier Deschamps’ plans a year away from the 2020 Euros.
