Liverpool’s desperate, last-minute trolley dash for new centre-backs is dominating deadline day, and it seems there’s another name to add to the list of those targeted.
That man is Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba, who, according to Sport 1 reporter Patrick Berger, was also a target.
He reports that Liverpool asked Bayer Leverkusen about the centre back but quickly pulled away from any deal when the German side demanded at least €50m for the 21-year-old.
#S04 – Ozan Kabak is still at #Schalke but on his way to do medical. Liverpool are pushing on a loan-deal with obligation to buy. @s04 searching for replacement (Mustafi). #LFC also asked @bayer04fussball for Edmond Tapsoba but too expensive. Bayer want at least €50 Mio. @SPORT1

That proved too expensive for Liverpool, who have instead turned their attention to Schalke’s Ozan Kabak instead.
They are now actively pushing to get that deal over the line, and the Bundesliga side will sell if they can get a replacement, with Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi the chosen man by all accounts.
Berger backs this up too and adds that Kabak is currently at Schalke to undergo a medical, thus speeding things up for him to join Liverpool ahead of tonight’s deadline.
