Liverpool were actively looking to sign a fullback during the transfer window, but ended up left empty handed. However, the Merseyside club were linked to a number of players, one of them being AC Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio.

There were reports in the Italian media claiming Liverpool are keen on the Italian international, who could cost them €18-€20m.

In fact, AC Milan received an offer from Liverpool for De Sciglio, reports Sport Mediaset. The 23-year-old has another couple of years left on his contract, and Sport Mediaset believe AC Milan should consider securing the future of the player.

Di Sciglio can play either side of the defence, and could have been a brilliant addition for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, as they’re short of quality fullbacks at the club.

It’d be interesting to see if AC Milan can convince him to sign a new contract or Liverpool rekindle their interest in the Italian defender. An Italy stay is by far the likelier scenario in future windows, even if Liverpool return with renewed interest.
